RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan Receives Deputy Speaker of Swedish Parliament

On May 15, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan received the delegation headed by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament (Riksdag) of Sweden Björn Söder.

Welcoming the guests, Ara Babloyan highlighted the multi-layer and mutually beneficial cooperation, the activation of the inter-parliamentary contacts, and noted that the coordinated work of the Friendship Groups functioning in the legislative bodies of the two countries and the MPs’ visits would also promote.

To the RA NA Speaker’s assessment, Sweden is genuinely considered one of the exemplary countries in terms of democracy and human rights. In this context Ara Babloyan highly appreciated the support of Sweden in the democratic processes in Armenia and reaffirmed the Armenian side’s readiness of continuing and deepening the constructive dialogue.

Presenting the inner-political developments, the Head of the RA legislative body has underlined that the events occurred in our country serve as an evidence of the establishment of democracy, which is an irreversible reality. “The important thing for us is the security of our country and the people’s welfare,” the Head of the Parliament said.

Touching upon the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed between Armenia and the European Union, the RA NA President has noted that it opens a new page in the history of the relations. Ara Babloyan expressed hope that the Parliament of Sweden would ratify the document within a very short period.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Sweden Björn Söder also emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations, the activation of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, Regarding the RA inner-political developments, the Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament opined that the manifestations of democracy in Armenia promoted the rise of the international rating. He assured that from now on his country would back Armenia in its initiatives.
