Parliamentary Hearings on Draft Law on Rights Protection and Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities

On March 28, on the initiative of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs moderated by Hakob Hakobyan parliamentary hearings on the draft law on Rights Protection and Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities were held. Representatives of the state bodies, international and local NGOs, specialists of the sphere and persons with disabilities took part in the debate.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan noted that the bill entered into a long phase of elaboration and passed in the first reading. The goal of the parliamentary hearings is to give an opportunity all concerned persons to voice their concerns and remarks on the draft law. According to Hakob Hakobyan, the law will give an opportunity to realize human rights and fundamental freedom on full and equal bases. The Committee Chair highlighted the attitude of the society towards the persons with disabilities.

The RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan highlighted the public debates organized on the draft law and expressed readiness to debate all recommendations due to which the law would be worked out and presented for the second reading.

The RA Human Rights Defense Arman Tatoyan emphasized the joint work in the provision of the rights of the persons with disabilities.

The RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Smbat Saiyan presented in detail the draft law and highlighted the ideas of the complex and annual programmes directed to its application.

Distinct clarifications were made to all interpellations and it was noted that after the adoption of the law the raised problems would be solved during the years.

The Chairman of the Full Life NGO Suren Maghakyan highlighted the adoption of the draft law, touched upon the problems of the disabled and passed the package of his recommendations.

Summing up the parliamentary hearings Hakob Hakobyan urged the participants to present their recommendations and informed that the concerned persons would be invited during debate of the draft law in the second reading.
