He was born on February 15, 1961 in the village of Ttujur in Aparan region.

In 1987 he graduated from Yerevan State University. He is a physicist, a teacher.

1980-1982 he served in the Soviet Army. In 1987 he worked as a teacher in the village of Ttujur, 1987-1995 - director of the school of the village of Chknagh. 1990-1995 he was a deputy of Aparan Regional Council. 1997-1999 he was head of department of social protection of the military servicemen of RA Ministry of Defense, chairman of Aragatsotn Regional Council of Yerkrapah Volunteer Union.

1995-1999 – deputy in the NA (electoral district # 98). He was a member of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, chairman of the Defense Sub-Committee. He was a member of Republic Faction, later member of Yerkrapah Deputy Group.

1999-2003 - deputy to the NA (electoral district # 28). He was a member of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs. He was a member of Unity Faction, later head of Armenia Deputy Group.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected a deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional system from the Republican Party of Armenia.

He is married and has two children.
