Razmik Martirosyan was born on May 24, 1959 in the village of Vosketap in the Ararat region.

Mr. Martirosyan graduated from Yerevan State University in 1981 with a special­ization as a historian and teacher of history and civilization.

From 1981-1984 he worked first as a teacher and later headmaster's assistant in Vosketap Secondary School in the Ararat region. From 1984-1985 he was an Instructor in ALCYU Ararat Committee. The next two years he spent in the Soviet Army. From 1987-1988 he was a headmaster's assistant of Ararat Village School. From 1988-1993 he was the headmaster of the secondary school of the village of Yeghegnavan. From 1999­2003 he was the RA Minister of Social Security, later first deputy minister and again minister.

From 1993-1995 he served in Supreme Council (electoral district # 171) and he was a member of Standing Committee on Local Self-Government Affairs.

From 1995-1999 he served in the NA (electoral district # 112) and he was first on the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and later, from 1998-1999 he was chairman of that committee. He was also a member of the Republic Faction.

In 1999 he was reelected to the NA from the proportional list of the Unity Faction.

On May 25, 2003 he was reelected to the NA from the proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia and he is currently on the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. He is also a member of both the Republican Party of Armenia Faction and party.

Mr. Martirosyan is married and has four children.
