On July 7, the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received the newly appointed Ambassador, Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan Argo Avakov.
The NA President congratulated Mr. Avakov on assuming the position of the Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan and expressed hope that the cooperation of the Armenian Parliament with the Office will be more effective from now on.
The Parliamentary Speaker, highly assessing the activity of the OSCE office in Yerevan, has noted that there has been shaped the tradition of close cooperation as a result of which many projects have been implemented
Galust Sahakyan has underlined that the National Assembly is actively involved in the OSCE PA works within the parliamentary framework.
Touching upon the regional problems, the NA Speaker has stated, “Though the mandate of the OSCE Office doesn’t assume any participation in terms of the conflict, I would like to mention that living in Armenia, you see that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement is a priority for the Armenian authorities, and Armenia does its best to peacefully settle the conflict according to the agreed OSCE format.”
According to Galust Sahakyan, the Republic of Armenia highlights the implementation of projects in the military-political, economic-ecological and human rights spheres.
Ambassador Argo Avakov, Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, in its turn has highly assessed the effective cooperation developed between the RA National Assembly and the OSCE Office in Yerevan in various spheres.
Argo Avakov has thanked the RA President for the support to the OSCE Office in Yerevan and expressed readiness to fulfill joint ideas and projects.
During the meeting they touched upon the works done after the Constitutional reform, including the adoption of the Electoral Code and the cooperation with the OSCE Office in Yerevan in this process. Touching upon the compliance of laws after the constitutional reforms, the RA NA President has informed that there is a lot to do; approximately 300 laws are to be drafted and adopted.
