On July 6, the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Armenia Ioannis Taghis, who is going to complete his diplomatic mission in the Republic of Armenia.
Galust Sahakyan thanked Ioannis Taghis for the effective work done during his tenure and wished him success during his further activities.
Touching upon the process of the Armenian Genocide recognition and condemnation, the NA President highly assesses the adoption of the bill anticipating responsibility for the denial of the Armenian Genocide by the Hellenic Parliament. In this context he also highlighted the statement condemning the Pontian Greeks’ and Assyrians’ Genocide by Ottoman Turkey adopted on March 24, 2015 in the RA National Assembly.
Speaking about one of the main issues of the RA foreign policy, the NK conflict settlement, Galust Sahakyan has noted that Armenia emphasizes the balanced position of Greece in the peaceful settlement of the NK problem.
According to Galust Sahakyan, Armenia pays special attention to the boosting and expansion of cooperation with Greece in different spheres. In this context it has been noted that there is still unused great potential in the sphere of trade-economic relations.
Thanking for the reception, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to the RA Ioannis Taghis noted with joy that during the years of his diplomatic mission the relations of Armenia and Greece were at high level and expressed hope that the stable development of the relations will also be continuous from now on.
Ioannis Taghis thanked the RA NA President for the support shown by the parliament during his diplomatic mission in Armenia.
In the course of the meeting both sides emphasized the high level of the inter-parliamentary relations, the contacts and mutual visits of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.
