Welcome Address by RA National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan to Participants of Pan-Armenian Educational 7th Forum
1 / 1

The Adviser to the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Hrayr Zoryan read the welcome address.

The address reads:

“Dear compatriots, dear pedagogues, I happily welcome all of you, observing this Forum as one more important step directed to the strengthening of Motherland-Diaspora relations and preservation of Armenainness. It is symbolic that the Pan-Armenian Educational 7th Forum is taking place on the threshold of the 25th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, our united Motherland.

In every Armenian educational centre of abroad the Armenian language, the Armenian way of thinking and the Armenian speech in written form and orally are preserved with confidence and faith. There the soul and the spirit are not only ever lost, but they get enriched and spread. In the Armenian school of the Diaspora every pupil finds a piece from Armenia and an Armenian’s inner world.

Dear compatriots, the upbringing in Armenian way should not be only a word, but a phenomenon, from which patriotism and humanity, nation loving and courage are borne. And also that upbringing, which was driving to self-sacrifice the heroes of the April last war events, the considerable part of which said farewell to school one-two years ago. Due to that upbringing our numerous compatriots who came to help Artsakh with the call of blood from the Diaspora took part in the Artsakh liberation war. This is one of the most visible results of the inseparable component of the educational process of the upbringing.

In the Diaspora the notion of upbringing is unreservedly connected with the nation preservation, because only the Armenian sons and daughters with the upbringing of patriotism and spirit of nation loving, and the best episodes of their own people’s history, can confidently take the responsibility not only remaining Armenian, but also their contribution to the Armenian identity preservation. With this respect the schools and teachers of the Diaspora have a mission, which besides containing glory and honour is also duty and responsibility before the nation and the history of its past and future.

Dear compatriots, nobody will respect and love us instead of us, nobody will serve our values, and nobody will make our language dearer, than we ourselves. You and on your behalf our educational centres, their staff members, pupils, those who materially and spiritually support and back are the bearers of the nation and the Motherland, language and the spirit. You do that with dignity, realizing the vital necessity of preserving all that and transferring it to the next generation. Without education, without being an educated nation in best case we can intend to have a symbolic or marginal role and slight trace in the history, and even not perhaps with our name. In that case history will not forgive anybody.

Taking the advantage, I would like to express my gratitude to all those spiritual and secular officials, all the teachers and benefactors, due to whose devotion and diligence the Armenian language and light always gets preserved and always remains bright in our compatriots of different parts of the world and in the Armenian communities. The firmness of the Motherland and the Diaspora, their relationship and longevity, the guarantee of remaining Armenian are also greatly conditioned by the existence and availability of the school, teacher and pupil. We, all of us, in the Motherland and in the Diaspora, the state or the private sector, an individual or a human group, are obliged together to do everything for supporting and backing them. This Forum, being already held for the seventh time, is the evidence of its effective continuity, is one of such steps. I am sure that many questions will get their answers in the debates over the full agenda of the Forum.

Once again greeting all of you, I wish you effective work for the benefit of the Armenian school, Armenian language and Armenian identity.”
